SIA Training Changes
As of 1st April 2021, the SIA will formally launch the new training modules for licence linked training. Some fundamental changes are afoot to bring the training in line with the current industry requirements. The training addresses a number of changes from new risks to security personnel such as knife crime, acid attacks and counter terrorism to new technologies being driven through the sector. After roll out of the training the new requirements will become mandatory on the 1st October 2021,
What does this mean for my business?
As of 1st October 2021, all licence renewals will need to demonstrate top up training to cover the following areas:
Door Supervision
Emergency first aid at work
Terror threat awareness
Global Critical Incident
Physical intervention
Equipment
Security Guarding
Emergency first aid at work

More information will be made available in the near future but some of the changes likely to happen:
More flexible approach to learning with virtual training
A tailored terror threat awareness training – more in depth and tailored to the role of security (possibly an outcome of the MEN enquiry)
First aid training will be a mandatory requirement.
Other changes are afoot for the close protection and CCTV licence linked training. These are likely to be announced very soon.
I will keep you all updated.
